Creating Fresh Pasta With A Pasta Maker Machine
Producing your own pasta isn't as tough as you may imagine, and the result is simply delicious, nothing like the dry version you probably usually purchase in your neighborhood store. While it is viable to create pasta without requiring a pasta maker machine, it's pretty hard work and the result, unless you're an expert, may well not be so great. Pasta makers come in 2 standard types - the manual hand-crack type and electric, both types do essentially perform the same function, but an automatic design is quicker and much easier to use and may have added functions.
A common pasta recipe consists of nothing other than these few ingredients: flour, egg, olive oil, water and salt. The components are mixed together, using a food processor, or simply by hand, till the desired consistency is reached - if it gets too sticky then you need to add a little more flour; if it's too dry then you should put in a touch more water. Then, once you've let the dough rest a bit, you have got to knead it for approximately 5 minutes. Now's the time to prepare your pasta maker machine. Whichever variety of machine you pick, the method is more or less the same.
You adjust the pasta maker machine to the thickest setting and roll out the dough by moving it through the machine three or four times - if you possess a manual model then you have to turn the handle to achieve this; an automatic device will pull the dough through for you. Next you change the machine again, choosing the next lowest thickness, and pass the pasta dough through three or four times more. This operation is repeated until you have a long thin sheet of pasta. Then you need to cut it to the preferred length. At this point the 2nd purpose of the pasta maker machine comes into play. All units possess a cutting function to cut the pasta sheet into strips. Simply pick the size you'd like and run the dough through the pasta cutter. That's all! Just leave the finished pasta to dry for an hour - a pasta drying rack will help with this part - and your fresh pasta is ready to cook.
